adidas Back to School Shoes 2026: Every Age, Grade School to Grad School
Back-to-school shopping isn't just parents buying for eight-year-olds. It's college students furnishing a walking life, teachers replacing the pair that died in May, and grad students who need one shoe that works in a lab and a lecture hall.
The right adidas depends less on age than on what the day actually looks like. Here's the breakdown.
Elementary and grade school
Little kids destroy shoes. What survives is a suede or leather upper that scuffs instead of tearing, over a rubber outsole with real tread.
The Kids' Black Minecraft x Campus 00s (IH1733) is the deepest-stocked kids' pick and the black hides a school day. The Kids' Handball Spezial in Black (IH8010) is the dressier option for a stricter code, and the Liberty Handball Spezial (JQ2010) brings a printed upper.

How adidas youth sizing works: K versus Y
Sizes marked K are little kid. Sizes marked Y are grade school — often called GS — and they use the same numbering as US men's. A 6Y is roughly a men's 6, and about a women's 7.5.
That last part matters beyond kids: adults with smaller feet often find the same shoe in a Y size, and it's worth checking both.
Middle and high school
Somewhere around sixth grade the priority flips from what's comfortable to what everyone else is wearing. Right now that's the Samba.
The Samba OG in Khaki/White/Gum (KK2272) is a safer daily pick than white, and the Samba OG in Black/Cream (HQ9282) is the version most people picture. The Superstar II in White/Black (IH8659) covers the shell-toe request.
By high school the conversation is about silhouette. The Handball Spezial in Brown (IH9761) is the quiet option and the Samba XLG in Brown (JI3193) is the chunkier one.
Do adidas Sambas run true to size?
Mostly — but the Samba is narrow and low-volume by design, because it started as an indoor soccer trainer. Wide feet or a high instep, go up a half size. Full detail in the Samba sizing guide, and do adidas run small ranks every model by width.
College
Campus is a walking problem before it's a style problem — miles a day on hard surfaces, unpredictable weather, and nowhere to stash a second pair.
The Campus 00s is the honest answer, and not just for the name. It's the roomiest heritage adidas, with more midsole under you than a Samba and a suede upper that copes with damp. The Grey Campus 00s (JR2463) is the most versatile, the Brown Campus 00s (JH7605) is the warmer neutral, and the Cream 'Zen Garden' Campus 00s (JQ7670) is the softest. See the Campus collection.
If you want something lighter for a schedule that's mostly walking between buildings, the White Adizero Evo SL (JH6206) has the deepest size run of anything here.

Teachers and staff
Teaching is a standing job nobody classifies as one, and August is when everybody replaces the pair that didn't survive the year.
The requirement is usually support plus something that passes a staff dress code, which rules out an obvious running shoe. The Grey Campus 00s (JR2463) threads that needle, and the Black Ultradream DNA (JS0315) is the cushioned option in a quiet colorway.

Why buy adidas from West Coast Deals
We're a Portland, Oregon operation. Every pair moves through in-house authentication before it ships, and we ship next day — which matters more in August than any other month, because a shoe that shows up late is a shoe nobody wears on the first day.
Start with what the day actually demands, get the fit right, and let the person wearing them pick the color. That part isn't negotiable at any age.
