For bigger boys: size into men’s
Kids’ sizing tops out around 7Y, and a 7Y is roughly a men’s 7. What to look for in a boys’ school shoe
Prioritize a tough upper (suede, synthetic leather, or coated mesh over thin knit), a non-marking rubber outsole that grips gym floors, and a secure fit that stays put during recess. For younger boys, easy-on features — a wide throat or a strap — save a lot of morning friction. And leave growing room without going so big the shoe slides; kids trip in shoes that are too long.
