This version of the Handball Spezial comes in a black and white Argentina-inspired colorway, built with a black leather upper and white 3-Stripes that give it a cleaner look than the suede pairs most people associate with the model. First released in 1979 for elite handball players, the Spezial remains one of Adidas's most faithful indoor-sport revivals.
The leather upper is paired with a synthetic sockliner and a low gum rubber outsole that keeps the shoe close to the ground. Spezial branding on the tongue and quarter stays true to the original details, while the flat sole and slim profile preserve the feel of the vintage indoor trainer. The leather gives this pair a smoother finish that wears differently from the model's more common suede releases.
If you've worn Sambas and want something roomier, the Handball Spezial offers a noticeably wider fit through the footbed with a thinner tongue and collar. The Samba is the narrower, more structured shoe, while the Spezial feels easier right out of the box.
The black-and-white color scheme works naturally with cuffed denim, track pants, or grey sweats. It keeps the old indoor-sport character without feeling tied to one particular era.

Shoes are authentic and one of the most comfortable shoes on the market. The Zoom X provides the best cushion I have ever felt and the two zoom air bags creates a very responsive shoe. Shoes are even stable even in spite of its height and provide a complete lockdown of the foot. The only downside is ground feel because of the large stack height of the foam, but that is a sacrifice for maximum cushion.
I have wanted these shoes since I was 12 years old and I am now 48. I used my adult money to finally get them at a great price and they are all that I dreamed they would be. This is about my 12th pair of shoes that I bought from West Coast deals and they're all brand new and I have never paid more than $70 for a pair. Most of them are in the 30s.
