The Superstar 2 arrives in a Better Scarlet and black colorway that pushes the shell-toe classic away from its usual white-leather look. This pair keeps the leather upper and padded tongue that define the current Superstar 2 shape. Introduced in 1969 as a low-top basketball shoe, the Superstar's rubber shell toe started as a court feature before becoming the detail most people recognize.
The leather upper is paired with leather Three Stripes, a textile lining, and a rubber cupsole underfoot. The hard shell toe remains the focal point, while the padded tongue and collar give the Superstar 2 a fuller profile than slimmer terrace models. Standard laces keep the fit simple, and the cupsole adds the durable feel that has long defined the silhouette.
If you've worn Sambas, the difference is immediate. The Superstar has the hard shell toe and a chunkier rubber cupsole, while the Samba uses a softer T-toe and thinner gum sole. Shoes are authentic and one of the most comfortable shoes on the market. The Zoom X provides the best cushion I have ever felt and the two zoom air bags creates a very responsive shoe. Shoes are even stable even in spite of its height and provide a complete lockdown of the foot. The only downside is ground feel because of the large stack height of the foam, but that is a sacrifice for maximum cushion.
I have wanted these shoes since I was 12 years old and I am now 48. I used my adult money to finally get them at a great price and they are all that I dreamed they would be. This is about my 12th pair of shoes that I bought from West Coast deals and they're all brand new and I have never paid more than $70 for a pair. Most of them are in the 30s.
