Adidas Harden Vol. 1 Sizing Guide: Do They Run True to Size?

West Coast Deals is a Portland, Oregon sneaker shop. Every pair we sell is brand new, authenticated in-house at our warehouse, and ships the same or next business day under our Verified & Shipped promise. We have been selling since 2017 from our own floor, so the shoes in this guide are ones we can actually put in a box for you.

ONE SENTENCE REVIEW: The Harden Vol. 1 retro runs a touch long, so most players can go a half size down for a locked fit, while people with wide feet should stay true to size.

The Harden Vol. 1 'Pioneer' (LC5090) is the 2026 Restomod of James Harden's first adidas signature shoe. The leather toe cap, knit body and asymmetrical lacing are back, and Hyperboost replaces the original Boost. Here is how the Harden Vol. 1 Pioneer fits.

Does the adidas Harden Vol. 1 run true to size?

It depends on who you ask. adidas' product page says true to size and recommends your usual size. WearTesters, who bought and tested the 2026 Restomod, say it runs slightly large and recommend a half size down. That matches what reviewers said about the 2016 original: Schwollo and The Sole Brothers both found it long and went a half size down, while WearTesters' Duke4005 played in his true size and said a half down only matters if you want a one to one fit.

Our take from those sources: true to size works and is the safe choice, and a half size down tightens things up if you like a snug basketball fit and have a standard or narrow foot.

How the Harden Vol. 1 fits: midfoot, toe box and heel

The shape is unusual. The midfoot runs narrow, with a pronounced arch, and the toe box opens up wide and squared. WearTesters described the asymmetrical lacing as a bear hug for the foot, and the sculpted heel cups the Achilles well. Expect a break-in period: several original reviewers said the leather toe cap pinched until it softened, and Schwollo's flat feet took about a week to get used to the arch.

Should people with wide feet size down in the Harden Vol. 1?

No. WearTesters' Restomod review says people with wide feet who usually size up should get their true size here, and their original review said people with wide feet will enjoy the shoe true to size thanks to the roomy forefoot. Sizing down squeezes the already narrow midfoot, which is where Schwollo felt pain in the half size down pair.

Harden Vol. 1 vs Harden Vol. 10 sizing

The Vol. 10 is a very different shoe from the 2016 design. Our Harden Vol. 10 sizing guide covers the current model. For the release story and the Pioneer colorway, read our Harden Vol. 1 'Pioneer' retro post, and for the full line, our James Harden shoes guide.
