Adidas Superstar ADV Sizing Guide: Do They Run True to Size?

ONE SENTENCE REVIEW: The Superstar ADV is true to size per adidas, but the padded skate build and rigid shell toe fit snugger than a regular Superstar, so people with wide feet should consider a half size up.

The Superstar ADV is the skateboarding version of the classic shell toe: same rubber toe cap and leather upper, built on a more structured, padded package for the board. Here is how the white and black Superstar ADV (GW6930) fits, and how it differs from the Superstar you already know.

Does the adidas Superstar ADV run true to size?

adidas lists the Superstar ADV as true to size and recommends ordering your usual size. That is the starting point for most feet. If you wear the same size in a standard Superstar and it fits well, start with that size in the ADV.

How the Superstar ADV fits compared to a regular Superstar

The ADV feels tighter out of the box. A Japanese reviewer at Murata Monogoto compared it directly to the Superstar 82 and found the ADV much snugger, thanks to thicker padding on the inside walls, an elastic band tying the tongue to the footbed, and a more shaped insole. SkateShoes.app adds that the shell toe will not stretch the way suede does, so your toes should never press against it, even in a bent knee stance.

If you want the regular Superstar fit for comparison, see our adidas Superstar sizing guide and the Superstar II size guide.

Should people with wide feet size up in the Superstar ADV?

Probably. The Murata Monogoto reviewer, who has wide feet and a high instep, suggested going one to two sizes up, which is more than most people will need. A half size up is the sensible first step for people with wide feet or high insteps, since the padding and tongue band take up room that lacing cannot give back. If you have a narrow or standard foot, stay with your usual size: extra length can cause heel lift and moves the shell past your natural flex point, per SkateShoes.app.

Superstar ADV vs Samba ADV

SkateShoes.app describes the Samba ADV as lower and more tapered, with a suede led toe, while the Superstar ADV is fuller and firmer with the protective shell. If you are choosing between the two skate shoes, read our Samba ADV sizing guide as well.

Quick sizing summary

  • Narrow and standard feet: your usual size.
  • People with wide feet or high insteps: consider a half size up.
  • Check that toes clear the rubber shell when you crouch.
  • Expect a snugger feel than a regular Superstar until the padding breaks in.
