The Anthony Edwards 3 is the third signature shoe for the Timberwolves star, a low top with Hyperboost cushioning, a shank and five triangular TPU overlays wrapping the base. Do adidas AE 3 run true to size?
In length, yes. Heartbeat Bash, a Japanese hoops review site, recommends your normal adidas size and found it a perfect length fit with about 5 mm of room at the toe. If you size off Nike, they suggest going a half size down from your Nike size, since adidas runs slightly longer. They also warn against sizing down for a tighter feel: the hard toe cup can jam your toes on hard stops.
How the AE 3 fits: width and toe box
RunRepeat cut the shoe in half and measured it. Overall width through the midfoot came in at 97.4 mm against a 92.9 mm average, which they called incredibly spacious. The toe box is a different story: it tapers to 67.4 mm, narrower than the 69.1 mm average. Toe box height sits slightly above average. In plain terms, the AE 3 has room in the middle and a pointed front end.
RunRepeat also flags a real break-in period because of the armor-like structure, and Heartbeat Bash notes the cage can press near the big toe joint when the shoe flexes. Thicker basketball socks help fill the gaps and soften the plastic.
Should people with wide feet size up in the AE 3?
Heartbeat Bash recommends a half size up for wide or high volume feet, paired with thicker socks, because the outer TPU cage does not give at all. If you have bunions or a prominent pinky toe bone, try the shoe on and step through a few cuts before you commit, since the cage edge can hit those spots.
AE 3 vs AE 2 sizing
