The Campus has quietly become the shoe you see most on a college walk, and there's a reason beyond the name. It's the roomiest of the adidas heritage silhouettes, it's built from suede that survives weather, and the chunky sole handles a day of walking better than a Samba does.

What is the adidas Campus?
It started as a basketball shoe in the 1970s and spent the eighties and nineties as a skate and hip-hop staple. The Campus 00s is the current version, and the "00s" refers to the early-2000s proportions it borrows: a taller, chunkier midsole and a wider overall shape than the original.
That's the whole appeal. It has heritage credibility but a modern, slightly oversized footprint.
How does the Campus fit?
Roomier than almost anything else in the adidas heritage line. Where a Samba is narrow and low-volume, the Campus has a wider forefoot and more depth over the instep.

The best Campus colorways
Grey is the most versatile and the one I'd point most people to — the Grey Campus 00s (JR2463) has the deepest size run we carry, and grey suede hides wear better than any other finish. The Light Grey Campus 00s (HQ8707) is the same shoe a few shades up.
For something warmer, the Brown Campus 00s (JH7605) and the Green/Brown Campus 00s (ID1418) both lean earthy and work with denim and khaki.
On the green side, the Green Campus 00s (IG2121) and the Collegiate Green Campus 00s (JH8794) are the ones that read as a color choice without being loud.
For women's sizing, the Cream 'Zen Garden' Campus 00s (JQ7670) is the softest neutral, and the Burgundy Campus 00s (JQ8368) is the deep-red option.
Are Campus shoes good for college?
Yes, and it's the practical answer rather than just the pun. Campus walking is miles a day on hard surfaces in unpredictable weather, and the Campus handles that better than the flatter heritage models — there's more midsole under you, and suede copes with damp far better than canvas or mesh.
The one caveat is heavy rain. Suede water-spots, so if you're somewhere genuinely wet, treat them with a protector spray before the first wear.
