Pokémon turned 30 this year, and adidas marked it with a full footwear and apparel collab: ADIDAS | POKÉMON. It covers more than a dozen pairs across the Superstar, Samba, Handball Spezial, ZX and adiStar lines, each one built around a Pokémon or an evolution line. Here's every adidas Pokémon shoe in the collection, when it released, how the Spezial fits and what to know before you buy.
What is the adidas x Pokémon collection?
The adidas Pokémon collab celebrates 30 years of Pokémon. In Japan it launched through adidas stores, adidas.jp and select retailers, with a Pokémon-themed shoebox and wrapping paper, plus apparel that includes game shirts, jackets and kids' items. In the US and globally, the collection runs across the Superstar, Samba, ZX 500, ZX 8000, Pro Model, adiStar XLG 2.0, Megaride and adiStar Control 5 silhouettes, along with the Handball Spezial.
When did the adidas Pokémon collection release?
The adidas Pokémon release date came in two waves:
- Japan: September 15, 2026
- US and global: September 22, 2026, through adidas and select retailers
On the US launch day, kids' items went live first, and the adult pairs followed later the same day.
Which Pokémon are in the collection?
The pairs are grouped by character, and several follow a full evolution line.
Pikachu
Pikachu gets the Superstar treatment in KI2858 and KI2857. A third Pikachu pair, KI2862, is listed as a Pro Model in some sources and as the SUPERSTAR II MID on adidas Japan.
Mewtwo
Mewtwo has the widest spread: the Handball Spezial (KI8213), the Samba (KI8220, with a grade-school version, KI8222) and the ZX 8000 (KI5326). The Mewtwo Samba has a three-eyelet eyestay, a nod to Mewtwo's three fingers.
Charmander, Charmeleon and Charizard
The fire-type evolution line runs across three Superstars: KI2855, KI2856 and KI2861.
Gastly, Haunter and Gengar
The ghost-type line moves through adidas running and lifestyle shapes. Gastly is the adiStar Control 3 (KJ5610), Haunter is the adiStar Control 5 (KJ5611) and Gengar is the adiStar XLG 2.0 (KJ5609).
Rayquaza
Rayquaza covers the ZX 500 (KI8189), the adiStar Control 5 (KI8179) and the Megaride F50, which is listed as KI5325 in US sources and KJ5325 on adidas Japan.
The Mewtwo Handball Spezial (KI8213), up close
For Spezial fans, this is the pair in the collab. The Mewtwo Handball Spezial comes in Ice Lavender and Violet, a color pairing that fits the character. It keeps the low, terrace-style Spezial shape and adds three collab details: a blush gradient sole, a heel buckle and gilded insoles. If you already know the Spezial, the shape and feel will be familiar, and the Mewtwo details are what set it apart. Do the adidas Pokémon Spezials fit true to size?
On sizing, adidas US says: "True to size. We recommend ordering your usual size." The collab details sit on the standard Spezial, so the regular Spezial fit notes apply. Our Handball Spezial sizing guide goes through width, socks and when a half size up makes sense.
Are there kids' sizes?
Yes. The collab includes kids' items, and the Mewtwo Samba comes in a grade-school version, KI8222. Kids' items were the first to go live on the US launch day. Kids' shoes use their own size scale, so check our kids' shoe size conversion guide before you pick a size.
