adidas Adizero Evo SL Versions Explained: Standard, EXO, Woven, Zip, and ATR
The Evo SL became one of adidas's most-wanted shoes almost overnight, and adidas has run with it. Since the original launched in spring 2025, there are now several versions — and they're easy to mix up. Here's what each one actually changes, so you know which Evo SL you're looking at before you buy. They all live in the Adizero Evo SL collection.
The standard Evo SL — the original
The baseline is the shoe that started it: an uncompromisingly light trainer built on full-length Lightstrike Pro foam, a rocker geometry, and a Continental rubber outsole, with a soft mesh upper. It borrows heavily from adidas's Adizero racing DNA, which is why it feels fast for an everyday shoe. Evo SL EXO — the caged upper
EXO stands for exoskeleton, and that's the whole change: the soft mesh is swapped for a woven cage with external TPU overlays across the midfoot, for a more locked-down, structured fit. Evo SL Woven — the upgraded mesh
The Woven changes only the upper material: adidas swapped in a newly developed woven mesh that's more structured, dimensionally stable, and precise than the standard mesh — while the midsole, outsole, and geometry stay identical. Evo SL Zip — built for everyday
The Zip is the newest branch, aimed squarely at lifestyle wear: a shroud and zipper over the laces give it a cleaner, slip-in everyday look. Underneath it's still Evo SL, so you're not giving up the ride — you're just getting a version that leans more street than track.
Evo SL ATR — the all-terrain, weather-ready one
ATR stands for all-terrain, and this is the version for bad weather: a water-resistant upper and a lugged outsole for grip on wet or loose ground. If you run or walk through Portland winters, this is the Evo SL built for it — the same platform underneath, weatherproofed on top.
