Adidas SL 72 Sizing Guide (Women's): Do They Run True to Size?

The SL 72 is one of the prettiest retro runners around — the kind of throwback that goes with everything in your rotation — so: do women's SL 72 run true to size?

We carry the SL 72 at West Coast Deals. Here's my honest read, because this one's a little split.

Do women's SL 72 run true to size? The short answer

For average and wider feet, true to size. The SL 72 runs narrow, and that long retro toe box leaves some room up front — so slim feet often size down half a size to clean that up.

How they fit

I wear a women's 8.5 with an average-to-slightly-narrow foot, and true to size worked for me — the narrow build held my foot nicely. But I could feel that long toe box, so if your feet are genuinely slim, half a size down kills the dead space for that clean, dialed-in look. One thing to know: the heel counter is soft and unstructured, so if you get any heel slip, lace through the top eyelet before you commit to a smaller size. The nylon-and-suede upper doesn't stretch, so tight stays tight.

What they are

The SL 72 is a faithful reissue of the 1972 "Super Light" runner — a nylon upper with suede overlays on an EVA midsole. A casual heritage sneaker, not a performance shoe, and an easy everyday pick.

Final verdict

Runs narrow; true to size for average and wide feet, half a size down for slim feet or anyone bothered by the long toe box. For the full size-by-size story, see our main SL 72 sizing guide, and browse the women's SL 72 or more adidas Originals.
